Sick in Bed

This day couldn’t get any worse for Akari. She was stuck sick in bed. Kabuto had already did what he could for her. But medical ninjutsu wasn’t something that could be use so easily to help her condition. She was given medication to help with her untamed chakra to calm it down so the beast wouldn’t rear its ugly head, but when they’d give it to her, it would attack her immune system and it wouldn’t take long for her to get a flu bug, rendering her in bed.

“How is she?”

Kabuto, who was currently in the room checking to make sure she didn’t have a temperature turned at the voice. He gave the visitor a smug look. “I believe you know the answer to that.” He paused. “She will be fine. She hasn’t gotten a fever yet, which I’m glad.”

“Kabuto?” she asked tiredly.

Kabuto turned to the girl. “You have a visitor.” He then pointed to the door.

Akari looked to the door and her eyes lit up by who she saw. “Sasuke.”

Sasuke silently moved from his spot and stepped over to the bed, taking a seat on it, beside her.

“I hate to see you like this,” he replied quietly.

“Me too, but you know how it is.”

Kabuto stood and quietly left the room, giving the two a quiet moment. Sasuke was often found in her room while she was awake and sometimes when she was sleeping. Sometimes Kabuto would check in on her to find Sasuke in a chair beside the bed, head against the wall, asleep. He didn’t like to leave her side unless it was for training.

She gave a weak smile. “Thank you for coming.”

“You know I will always be at your side.” He took her hand and gently held it. “Wish there was something I can do.”

“You’re doing it,” she replied. “Being here with me is my best medicine. Before you came along and I got sick, it was always so annoying, but now it’s not so bad.”

She then stopped as a coughing fit erupted. Sasuke was quick to reach over and lift her up into a sitting position so she could cough better. When she stopped, he could see her body was extremely weak. Carefully, he laid her back down.

“Try not to speak so much,” he replied seriously. “The more words you say, the sooner you’ll cough again.”

She gave a small nod. “Water…”

Turning his head, he saw a glass of water at her beside. Reaching for it, he then lifted her head a little brought the water to her lips, allowing her to slide the cool water down her throat.

“Rest,” he said once he knew she was done drinking.

He went and grabbed the chair from off to the side and brought to be next to her bed. He took a seat and just watched her as she slowly closed her eyes, to go to sleep, dreaming of her handsome Uchiha.
